SMTP Server Settings
In our continuing effort to monitor our security posture, we have made some security configuration changes to our mail service.   The new configuration settings apply to users that do not use our webmail interface.   The following instructions are provided to customers that are using POP3 and IMAP4 client programs (i.e., Outlook) that access our mail servers.   There are two ways to resolve this issue.   First you can set your outbound mail server to your upstream internet service providers outbound mail server, or you could make the following changes below.
  1. Set your smtp outbound mail server to smtpauth.telosonline.com.
  2. Note: Do not substitute your domain name above.
  3. This smtp server requires encrypted authentication, so changes on the email client Authentication settings is needed? In order to activate this in outlook make the following changes listed below.
Explanation: Our smtp authenticated server requires password encryptions in the form of TLS or MD5 encryptions then reverts back to plain text password.
Microsoft Outlook Clients automatically use TLS then switch to MD5 when they try to communicate with a smtp server when authentication is asked for.
